July = Fun in the Sun

Dear Friends & Colleagues, July = Fun in the Sun with Family & Friends… and our beloved furry four-legged companions, as well.  So, let’s not forget safety!  Like you, pets need to stay cool and safe this summer.  In thinking about your extended canine and feline family (my beloved yellow lab, Ginger, is now deceased), I asked my assistant to do some research.  She discovered a great article by Janet Tobiassen Crosby, DVM which outlines common dangers for pets so that “all the fun isn’t spoiled by an unsuspected emergency or illness.”  She offers important details on heat stroke, jogging with your pet, housing (especially if your pet is kept outdoors), water safety, and summer travel.  She even considers Antifreeze since cars over heat in the summer and may leak.  You can read more here:  http://tinyurl.com/3yaahep. For those of you who want to provide the greatest level of love and protection for your “extended family,” you may want to consider a Pet Trust.  Simply put, it’s a legal technique you can use to ensure your pet receives proper care after you die in the event of your disability.  I’ve done many pet trusts over the years and would be happy to help.  I’ll hush now, so you can head outside and enjoy the elements.  Warmly (literally), Minda
